History of Bhopal

The history of Bhopal the capital of MP

Dost Mohammad an Emir of Afghan joined the Mughal Imperial army in 1703. He was brave as well as intelligent and so Aurangzeb assigned him the head of Malwa Prant. After the death of Aurangzeb, Dost Mohammad started providing mercenary services to the Jamindars of the unstable Malwa region.In 1709, he helped the small Rajpoot Principality of Mangalgarh from the neighboring Rajput Rulars  by providing mercenary and later married with the princes of Mangalgarh and after the death of the rular of Mangalgarh he annexed Mangalgarh in his state . He also helped Rani Gond Rani Kamlawati providing mercenary services to her and later taken the village Bhopal from her in lieu of payment. After the Death of Rani Kamlawati he killed her son and annexed the Gond kingdom in his state. In the year 1715 he made a palace Chaman Mahel.




In the 1720s he transformed the Bhopal village into a fortified city. In 1720 he made a three storied Rani Mahel the Haram for his queens in the same campus of Chaman Mahel .


 Nowadays this area is known as Islam Nagar. Very few visitors are comig to this place as this place is at the outer boundary of Bhopal crossing few villages and the common problem of availability of public Transport the main hurdel for tourist s in MP.

In the heart of the city there are many historical and picknic spots for tourists. Few among them with the point of view of ancient history, there is a painting more than five thousands years old in the temple of Sanskrit Vidya Peeth just opposite bank of Bada Talab at Karbala.
