Majhgawan

Majhgawan is one of the historical village of Seohra Tahaseel, District Jabalpur. This place needs exploration of its history by historians/archaeologists/ASI.
The name of this place have some story. According to the locals There were Majars in this place, so people were addressing it Majar (wala)Gaon > Majhgaon. The question is what was its original name. Few decades ago, a Neem tree fallen in high speed winds and the numbers of broken idols were found buried in its roots. Those idols have been kept by the villagers in a temple known as Chousasath Yogini Mandir (PictureNo. 1-3) in the campus of Kher Mai(BOOdhi Mai) Mandir (Picture No.-4).
The archaeologists must visit this place.

About a distance of few yards there is a temple called Jatta (Juduan) Mandir as this temple is famous for Surya Dev and Chandra Dev Mandir (Picture No.-5 -7). Both the statues are of cream colour marble. However both the idols have been kept at one place and the Pojari is keeping the temple with his own style.

The main  market circle which is famous as Saheed Sthal and a symbolic Vijay Stambh of six feet is there. The people were unable to tell us when it was built. The businessmen have encroached the surroundings of the Stambh.

Jagdish temple is just behind the Stambh. In this campus there is a beautiful temple of Shiva, appears of Kultury period as the other idols of God and Goddess which are kept there, and the architecture of the pillars spell it. (Picture No.-8 to 13)

From here about a kilometer muddy lane, ahead towards Bagrachi we reached near a cave the place of Siddh Sthan of Baba Avadhoot.

                                                           (Picture No.-27)

We came here late after sunset about 7’o clock in the evening and it was not advisable to enter in the cave as many bats were flying in the cave. People say that the cave is closed by a slab of rock and there was a fort of Gond Dynesty above the hills. The locals have lots of respect for Rani Dugawati as goddess . We had to cover a distance about 32 Kilometers to reach Baghrachi through the narrow hilly road through dense forest, so we could not devote much time here. It is worth to visit this place to enjoy natural scenery.
