When the Sardar Sarovar was built and due the danger of merging of Shulpaleshwar Mahadev temple under the water ,if the Dam  which was to be planneddto be built at the bank of original stream of Narmada river ,so, the Shuvalinga was dig out and placed on a hill and a beautiful campus of the temple was made.
